The Power of Someone’s Belief in You
"The world is full of miracles, but none greater than how far a young person can be carried by someone else's belief in them." — Fredrik Backman
The Power of Someone’s Belief in You:
When I read this line, it stopped me in my tracks.
Because isn’t it true? Most of us can look back and find at least one person — sometimes not someone who we’d expect — whose belief in us changed everything.
It might not have been a parent or family member. And that’s okay.
Sometimes the people closest to us see us through the lens of their own fears, disappointments, or expectations. They have stories about who we are — stories that can unintentionally keep us small.
But then someone else comes along — a teacher, a coach, a friend, a boss — who doesn’t know all those old stories. They see us with clear eyes. They reflect back our potential, our light, our capacity before we can even see it ourselves.

That’s the miracle.
Belief is a force multiplier. It doesn’t just support us; it organizes us, shapes us, stretches us into who we’re meant to become.
When I trained for my Ironman, my coach did exactly that. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. He pushed me further than I thought I could go and structured my days when I didn’t have the energy to. His belief carried me — until, somewhere along the way, the belief became my own.
And really, aren’t we all young people again whenever we begin something new?
Each time we take a risk, start over, or set what feels like an impossible goal, we stand at the edge of our own growth — a little uncertain, a little (or very) brave, and deeply in need of someone who can see what’s possible before we can.
That’s why community matters so much.
We don’t grow in isolation. We grow through connection — through circles of belief that remind us who we are when we forget.
✨ Reflection
Who believed in you when you couldn’t?
And whose path might you help carry forward simply by believing in them?
This is what The Well: A Women’s Circle is all about — a space where we hold belief for one another until it becomes our embodied truth.
💙 I invite you to explore my new website, DrPeggyCoaching.com, and join our next free The Well A Women’s Circle. Let’s gather, remember our strength, and carry each other forward.
